In a Malay Mail article, actress-model Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson today filed a civil suit against textile company Gulatis Exclusive Sdn Bhd claiming RM2 million in damages and losses for using her images for their advertisements without her permission.

This comes barely two days after the same company was ordered to pay RM20,000 in damages in a similar case where the company also used actress Siti Sharizah Saifuddin, or better known as Eja, in the company’s advertisement material without her permission, on Wednesday.

Arriving at about 10am at the Kuala Lumpur Court at Jalan Duta today, Zahnita, 24, was accompanied by her lawyer Dayang Hartini Che Husain and co-counsel Muhammad Hasif Hasan when they handed in their statement of claim.

In Zahnita’s claim, it read that she had given permission to Kumpulan Karangkraf Sdn Bhd (KKSB) to use her photos in the Pesona Pengantin, Nona dan Keluarga magazine on January 2008. She was wearing clothes made by Gulatis in the fashion spread.

In July 23, Gulatis had orally requested permission to use her KKSB photos in their buntings and banners but Zahnita had turned them down. She said it was because she had already accepted a deal from Syarikat Jakel Trading, another textile company, for a project worth RM2 million.
