Unfortunately there is very little Christmas Cheer to report on with this year almost gone. As we know and have experienced, Covid-19 has decimated our 2020 tournament calendar. The only event has been the Mosconi Cup which was held just a couple of weeks ago, and despite the lack of crowd participation, it appeared to be very successful thanks to a high standard of production. Congratulations to Team Europe and Matchroom.
Despite the gloom and doom, players found a way to keep themselves busy through a unique idea of having tournaments online. These tournaments have proven popular with players; it has helped keep them interested, and it’s been a great incentive for players to keep practicing.
With all the problems of Covid still spreading itself through most of Europe, the USA and many other parts of the world, the future was looking quite grim. However we may finally be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with the recent announcements of a new vaccine, and now we have the commencement of people in some countries receiving the vaccine. Fingers and everything else crossed in anticipation of this inoculation being successful. If so, international travel is expected to increase and become more readily available because of this latest development.
On the strength of these announcements, you will notice that our calendar is becoming to look more busy. Many of the events are presently listed as an “International Event” because we are awaiting confirmation that these dates are available with the various venues etc. As soon as the details are confirmed we will announce the events by name.
