It has been reported that Matchroom Chairman, Barry Hearn has tested positive to COVID-19 recently. On behalf of the millions of fans, players and industry members from all around the world, the WPA wishes Barry a speedy and full recovery.
Long time friend, WPA President Ian Anderson said this news is most unfortunate, and demonstrates how easily this virus is spread. He said, “Barry is a most positive person and forever the optimist which will stand him in good stead to overcome this dreadful virus”. “I look forward to seeing him soon and rekindling our friendship over another 18 holes of golf, and hopefully winning a dozen balls instead of “donating” a dozen to him”.
It is understood that Barry’s son Eddie, director of Matchroom boxing division, has also tested positive and we also wish him all the best for a speedy and full recovery.
